I have been putting together the loose bits and pieces of this blog into the archive page, articles and posts dating back to 2005. Earlier stuff from 2004 has been lost long ago.

In total, 2 378 different posts. Not including their respective translations and the content that I have chosen to keep as drafts or unlisted parts of this website. Instagram photos that I have imported account for 1 495 pages.

Moving this content from the old blog also meant setting up 654 redirects to avoid broken links, and setting up a new update process on Disqus to make sure old comments are also migrated.

Because this is a reflection of who I am and how I have grown up. It’s a diary in more ways than one. It’s also my way of sharing and trying to build for the sort of society and web that I want to be widespread.

A word of advice, own your content

Blogspot, Tumblr, Facebook and Flickr. Every service that does not charge to host our content is a weak spot. If they disappear, our content may go with them. At least here, I am free to host it, share it without having to abide to what is considered proper, and I am responsible for what I write and show.

As an example, an illustrator I follow on instagram had one of her drawings reported and removed because it was too explicit. You can click here if you want to see it. This way I can share it with you, and you know straight up that it is questionable by Instagram’s standards.

This being my own website, I am personally responsible for what I publish and its effects. Today this is important, even more than when I started blogging back in 2005.

How this blog is going to work

It’s a blog and it shouldn’t be hard or complicated, right?

And it shouldn’t be boring either.

Once in a while you will get a post which is just an image or just a tweet from someone interesting. It may or it may not include a small idea and a bit of context. Later on I will publish a longer article where all that is made into something more concrete for further discussion.

The idea here is to give readers a glimpse of what I am thinking about and a chance for them to “chip in” with a comment or opinion they may have which will later be added to the longer post.

Does this make sense?

What would you add or change in all of it?

A clean slate

Some of you may remember a different blog, Relações Públicas.

Written in Portuguese, It is still the blog that ranks second for google searches on the portuguese translation of Public Relations. Positioned as the best place for dialogue on PR, it stands as the result of three years of work.

It reached 550 RSS Subscribers and an average near 5000 visits per month and I believe that in time it would continue to grow. But times change and I began to regret the language barrier for a number of reasons.

So I decided to take on a new domain name, and start over. With a new blog, a new strategy and new challenges. Aggregating the dialogue being one of those challenges. (Hopefully, as soon as I have the time, you will see a good mix of blogging and microblogging.)

At the same time, I could not simply leave the first website un-attended. With a great google rank also comes great responsibility. That means that the pulse for Relações Públicas will still beat, just at a slower pace.

As for this new place of dialogue, I will try to focus on research and insights on Public Relations that applies to the discipline and not simply to a new platform for online communication.

Stick around, it will be interesting.
